Cocktails-To-Go Packaging
New Jersey law requires cocktails sold to-go to be in a closed container with a tamper-evident seal, and caps non-original containers at 16 fluid ounces. Existing NJ ABC guidance describes examples of closures that indicate whether a container has been opened.
Closure examples described in ABC guidance
- Crown-capped bottles
- Screw tops that break away from a ring when opened
- Heat-sealed closures
- Sealed beverage pouches
- Bottles and sturdy plastic containers
- Mason-style jars secured with tamper-evident tape or heat-sealed film
These are examples from NJ ABC guidance, not an exhaustive statutory list.
Containers current guidance does not treat as acceptable
- Ordinary disposable plastic drink cups
- Ordinary disposable paper drink cups
- Lids or covers containing openings, including straw holes
- Taping over an opening to close a cup
Supplier listings are curated manually and none are published yet. The packaging guidance above reflects current New Jersey law and ABC guidance.
